The Integrated Locking System is designed so that individuals who desire to protect themselves, their family, or their business can do so without the concern of the firearm discharging and causing harm to an innocent individual. The system (and several variations) are currently acquiring or have acquired patents from the United States Patent Office and are undergoing development.
The ILS is in essence a safety mechanism to cut down the number of deaths related to accidental firearms discharge. The system has the option of having a key built in by the owner, and any attempt by any one other than the authorized user will trip the alarm system and the weapon will emit a high-decibel signal to deter unauthorized access.[1]
The most recent patent approved uses the housing of the weapon to protect itself as well as a customized key system to further assure that unauthorized access is impossible. Originally, the system could only be mounted to certain firearms, and even then the use of the system was extremely complicated. With this version, the system is able to be mounted on to virtually any firearm currently available along with a simpler method of locking the weapon.[1]
